He couldn’t decide between the shirts and said he’s going to wear them both. So Weston went shopping and chose two new shirts and a pair of shorts. Even if you don’t need a lot of new clothes for the school year, a new outfit for the new school year is something special. It’s a back to school tradition that is great for all ages. One tradition that Grambo always did with my sister and I was going shopping for a new outfit for the first day of school. Then grab your own Gift Card Mall gift card and attach it! Easy celebration done!

I knew if I gave Weston a gift, then Carrigan would expect the same on her first day so this makes it easy!ĬLICK HERE or click on the image below to download a printable version! This year I decided to do an easy card that I could print and attach his gift card to. So being able to pick up a gift card from Gift Card Mall at our local grocery store or online at gift giving so easy for me! He’s a huge fan of being able to go shopping and pay on his own. This year, Gift Card Mall made it easy for me to put together a gift for him. The gifts will definitely change as he grows. It’s a tradition I plan to keep up with every year. It was to congratulate him on being brave and doing a great job on his first day. It’s a simple thing to do but a great way to let your child know that you’re excited and want to celebrate the first day of school!Īt the end of the first day of preschool, I gave Weston a greeting card with a little note and a few dollars. When I told Weston he could choose a restaurant to go out to the night before Kindergarten, he was thrilled! It’s an easy to plan first day of Kindergarten celebration that gives us the chance to enjoy a meal together as a family without anyone having to spend the evening in the kitchen! This year we’re starting a brand new tradition - going out to dinner the night before school starts. There are some easy ideas that will make the first day and the first week special. Until then, I’m focusing on some fun ways that our family can celebrate this milestone together! But don’t let the word celebrate send your mind spiraling into crazy party planning mode. I will do my best to hold it in until I’m back in the car, but I have a feeling it’s going to happen. So I have to admit that I’m going to be the crying mom on the first day of school. This post is part of a partnership with Gift Card Mall and we thank them for inspiring us to turn our new adventure into a celebration!įirst Day of Kindergarten Celebration Ideas

You can also take this time to remind students about the expectations of using crayons, such as drawing only on paper and using the right amount of pressure.Weston is headed to school this year so we’re planning some fun First Day of Kindergarten celebration ideas to make the milestone one that is full of great memories. Some students will have had very little exposure to using crayons and writing utensils, so this gives you a chance to see which students might need some additional support. School supply procedures are especially important to practice on the first day of kindergarten so that you can dive right into hands-on learning activities! First, provide students with a simple coloring page to help them practice sharing crayons at their table groups. Then I also introduce additional rules and procedures as we need them during the first day, such as bathroom and cafeteria procedures. You’ll want to review rules and procedures right from the first day of school! One way that I start discussing appropriate school behavior is using the “David Goes to School” read-aloud.

As students come up and add their names, we repeat together that “We are so happy _ is in our class!” This is also a great way to help students start to learn the names of their classmates. I like to use a pocket chart to have students add their names, one by one, under the emotion they are feeling on the first day of school.
